Sydney Cisco school supplier hits the skids

Sydney Catholic school IT supplier Efficient Data Communications has gone into voluntary administration.

Administrator Andrew Cummins of BRI Ferrier was appointed on 14 April, although the company actually ceased trading prior to the administrator’s appointment, BRI Ferrier manager Alan Tang told CRN.

The move into administration came ahead of a court date scheduled for 6 May, where the Supreme Court was set to hear an application to wind up the company, lodged on 2 April by Westcon Group.

While the administration is in its early days, Tang said information submitted by the company’s director indicates $1.38 million owed to unsecured creditors and $420,000 owed to the secured creditor. The administrator will carry out further investigations into the company debt's.

A meeting of creditors is scheduled for 22 April. Creditors will vote on the future of the company at a subsequent second creditor’s meeting.

“We understand the company intends to put forward a restructuring proposal, which we will assess and report to creditors in due course,” Tang said.
