Major channel figure Danny Moore has resigned after more than 15 years in the distribution space.
Moore has stepped down as chief executive of Express Data division Express Online, effective today.
Express Online was known as one of the country's top Apple distributors.
In February, Express Data was acquired from parent Dimension Data by rival distributor Dicker Data in February for $65 million.
The deal completed on 1 April, ahead of schedule, according to a statement for Moore.
His resignation closes a chapter that began in 1998, when Moore joined Simms International as finance director. He was appointed managing director in 2001.
Simms moved into the Apple channel through the acquisition of KH Distribution in 2006. Simms was acquired by Express Data in 2011.
Express Online general manager of product marketing, Gavin Troxler, is also departing. Troxler was also an original director and shareholder of Simms.
Moore said: "I feel like right now is the perfect time for me to take a short break and enjoy some time with the family following the last 16 years in channel distribution.
"The integration into Dicker Data has been successfully completed ahead of schedule. My intention – along with Gavin’s – was to help oversee this integration, then to step back from the operation going forward. The Dicker Data leadership team is very experienced, has great instinct, and has a clear strategy and view of the market, which is good news for customers, partners and vendors.
"Regarding the future, I remain excited and optimistic about the Australian channel, and from here, I look forward to taking some time out to relax and consider my next step in this vibrant industry," said Moore.
In April, Dicker Data revealed it had lost the Apple account. Company founder David Dicker was pragmatic about the loss, explaining how tough it was to make a healthy margin reselling Apple.
"The cost of running the account for customers, the cost of operating the business, you just can't make a buck," he told CRN on 2 April.
Dicker Data boss David Dicker said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Danny and Gavin for their support during the integration process and wish them the very best.
"With the integration of Express Online into Dicker Data now completed, we are looking forward to a bright future as a combined entity and thank all of our reseller partners for their continued support."
