Integrator lands $3.4m FedGov storage and networking win

Canberra-based systems integrator Infront has signed contracts worth a combined $3.4 million with a Federal government department.

The Department of Social Services awarded the contracts, one worth $2.18 million and the other $1.27 million, to the integration company on 14 and 17 March.

"We've enjoyed a long-running relationship with the Department of Social Services that stretches back eight years now," Infront managing director Allan King told CRN.

Infront has been assigned the task of providing storage and network infrastructure for the department, with the projects already well under way.

"The equipment is arriving on floor this week," said King. "We expect the new infrastructure will be online over the next two to three months."

According to King, the work is varied, with a heavy EMC influence.

"There is a VMAX upgrade for aged care services, new appliances to replace EMC Centera, and extending existing backup capabilities with Data Domain technology," King told CRN. "We want to cater for the next three years of growth for the department."

King said the projects require four to five Infront staffers to provide "a broad range of skill sets including enterprise storage, backup, and archiving".

A four-year maintenance agreement is also included in the deal, which sees Infront provide all the warranty support outside of physical faults with the equipment.

"We're a full lifecycle company," King told CRN. "Dealing with the Federal government is all about engaging with the customer in a long term relationship."

Infront was founded in 1998 and has offices in Canberra and Sydney.
