Ingram Micro has formed a new business unit to focus on cloud and managed services for SMBs.
The services will be headed by channel veteran Darren Elsby, who recently returned from the US to confirm final details with Ingram colleagues.
The company's former manager of HP networking products, Peter Marsden, has joined the group as product manager.
Elsby said Ingram was well placed to give resellers the necessary business and technical support to easily deploy profitable cloud and managed services solutions.
“Our strong relationships with vendors and service providers give us the opportunity to assemble a wide range of best-of-breed services our resellers can take to market with ease and confidence,” he said.
David Lenz, Ingram Micro Australia’s general manager for the enterprise technology group said the distributor had a key role to play in delivering cloud and managed services to its resellers.
“The need for a strong distribution partner is just as critical in the services market as it is in other areas of the technology industry,” Lenz said.
Elsby added that the services market was an opportunity for Ingram to pursue new opportunities with existing resellers.
“Some of our larger resellers are themselves becoming service providers, providing services that can be offered to the SMB market,” he said.
“We’re able to partner with them to help them take those services to market through the channel”.
Ingram Micro would launch a new website supporting the new division, allowing resellers to view the company’s various services offerings along with resources designed to help sell them.
