Competition heats up on the CRN Fast50

IT services veteran Southern Cross Computer Systems is the latest reseller to throw its hat in the ring for the inaugural CRN Fast50.

The Fast50, CRN's premiere awards list, recognises the hard work and entrepreneurial success of Australia's best and brightest resellers. The competition opened in the first week of August and runs until the end of September.

Commenting on the CRN Fast50, Southern Cross' managing director Mark Kalmus said the initiative is significant for the channel as other business awards lists are not IT specific. "It's good to recognise the IT industry in isolation," he said.

From its foundation in 1981, Southern Cross has grown steadily and profitably by designing and supporting end-to-end IT infrastructure and business solutions. Recently ,Southern Cross added managed services to its services offering.

Today, Southern Cross Computer Systems has 72 employees and Kalmus said, "we are proud of our growth".

Kalmus attributed the company's growth in part to a good reputation in the marketplace.

"I think some of our competitors have found it difficult, there has been consolidation in the market. But the depth and breadth of our solution is significant," he said.

Additonally we've got a strong management team, he said.

CRN's Fast50 will be the cover story of the December issue. The Fast50 microsite and magazine will list the channel players at the height of their games, feature interviews with the top resellers and the distributors who backed them.

With a $75,000 prize package up for grabs, the channel's premiere awards list will put together 50 of the fastest growing resellers in the Australian channel.
