Similar to its perennial rival Telstra, Optus has also a significant enterprise IT provider business that hums along behind the more well-known telecommunications facade.
The journey in the IT channel has been helped along with acquisitions such as Alphawest and Ensyst – companies that brought across expertise and MVP vendor accreditations.
In April, Optus took home four awards from the Cisco Partner Summit in Montreal, including ANZ partner of the year and the global crown for architectural excellence in enterprise networks. The same month, Optus beat Telstra to become one of the first two companies to join Microsoft’s global Cloud OS network.
Optus also boasts top-tier partnerships with Hewlett-Packard, VMware and Citrix.
"Over last three years we have met with over 3000 technology organisations, and have active investments in about 50 companies," said Optus product solutions and ICT vice president David Caspari.
"We have a dedicated team of professional alliance and partner managers, headed up by a dedicated director of alliances and partners, to ensure the ongoing success of the partnerships at an executive, sales, operational and, of course, market positioning perspective.”

Notes on methodology
The CRN MVP program recognises Australia's top IT providers by measuring their value and versatility based on third-party vendor accreditations across 12 eligible vendors: Amazon Web Services, Cisco, Citrix Systems, Dell, EMC, HP (incl Aruba), IBM, Intel (incl McAfee), Lenovo, Microsoft, Symantec and VMware.
Only eligible vendors listed above. Only Gold-equivalent partner levels are included. CRN MVP companies may have accreditations with other, ineligible vendor programs or lower-level accreditations with eligible vendors (for example, we do not list silver accreditations).
We expect the list of eligible vendors to change in coming years, which may open up the CRN MVP program to new entrants.
For further information on the CRN MVP program, see this article.
We are currently accepting expressions of interest for the 2016 CRN MVPs at www.techpartner.news/MVP. Entries will open in coming months.
