Welcome to your nightmare: It’s the third-last business day before Christmas, you’re hard at work making sure your books are in good order before Australia goes to the beach for a month when all of a sudden your SaaS accounting service goes down.
That messy scenario became all too real this morning, when Xero suffered an outage.
CRN-reading Xero users tell us it lasted about two hours, during which time they could not access the service.
Users therefore did the very modern thing of hitting social media to complain.
@xero receiving a Server Error! So much needs to be done before EOD due to Christmas shut down, do we have an ETA?

The company itself, on its status page, says that it became aware that “Users are unable to log into Xero” as of 11:34 New Zealand Daylight Time. At 12:03 NZDT the company reported “Our Product Team have identified the cause, and are working to restore your ability to access Xero as soon as possible.”
Hi folks, we’re aware of an issue preventing people from logging in to Xero right now. We're extremely sorry about this – our Product Team is investigating urgently & we'll keep you updated via the status page

At 12:32 NZDT the company declared the situation was sorted.
“Our Product Team have resolved the issue that was preventing users from logging into Xero,” said the final note in the incident report. “Please let us know if you still have any issues accessing Xero, and we’ll investigate further.”
So get back to your Christmas accounting, folks. If there’s a few bucks left over to send CRN a pressie, you know where to find us. And if Xero explains the reason for the outage, we'll update this story.
