The thin client vendor has completed its Wyse Partner Training roadshow across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Wellington and Auckland.
Ward Nash (pictured), general manager APAC Wyse Technology said Gartner has projected that about 50 million user licenses for hosted virtual desktops will be purchased in the next four years, and that the thin-client terminal will account for about 40 percent of user devices for hosted virtual desktop deployment.
At the roadshow, sessions covered sales strategies, product overview and positioning, becoming a Wyse partner, the updated partner program and its Opportunity Registration and partner portal.
There was also information on delivering voice, data and video with its virtualisation software suite - TCX.
"We visited Australia and New Zealand and did live product demos to update resellers and distributors on our latest products. We also talked about our new partner program that we have launched," said Nash.
The program update allows resellers to apply for Opportunity Registration which means they get a discount directly from Wyse instead of going through a distributor if they sell a product.
"Wyse has 300 resellers but through our Affiliate Premier program we are trying to get 20 that sell all our solutions not just one," he said.
"Our partner program is geared to reward people who put more focus on the business. The channel should sit back and put the whole solution together.
"Organisations don't want to hear 10 different vendor pitches they want one reseller to come in and do the whole solution for them," added Nash.
At the roadshow Nash talked about how resellers need to get excited about cloud computing, desktop as a service and virtualisation.
"I wouldn't want to be in the business of selling PCs the good thing about selling virtual desktops is that you are bringing something to a CIO that is new and exciting," he said.
