WhiteGold conceives 'Unified Value Distribution' tag
As the industry converges and users demand increasing complex offerings, distributor WhiteGold Solutions claimed it has reacted to such changes with its homespun ‘UVD’ vision.

Dominic Whitehand, managing director of WhiteGold Solutions told CRN the firm is assessing its traditionally security-focused business model and evolving into something that caters for the demands and requirements of today’s technology users.

“The end result is something very new – and very different. Our strength in IT security will remain, but our business has transformed into a broader-based technology provider that still retains our niche customer experience,” he claimed. “Highlighting the unified technology solutions that we now distribute – we call this Unified Value Distribution.”

Security, networking, storage and VoIP offerings will form the backbone of WhiteGold plans, but Whitehand noted the firm will be distributing unified offerings. This includes the unification of threat management, communications, performance management, content security, digital storage, access control, unified security management and IP networking.

“This is something that everyone needs to consider now. There is also a lot of focus on distribution costs which means you have to look at the sensible products to take on and the costs association that comes with that,” said Whitehand. “Unified Communications is really starting to engage this year, security is not going away, nor is storage. You also have to secure your storage and the switches around all this involves networking too.”

WhiteGold will continue to add vendors to its stable before the end of the year, but it will be looking to add more staff to support such signings.

“Diversification is great, but you have to be careful with the speed in which you do it,” he said. “You can’t do it too fast, you need to get the capabilities. At the moment we need about eight more staff before the end of the year, largely in sales.”

In terms of the transformation of WhiteGold’s reseller base, Whitehand added he expects to start working with a fresh raft of previously untouched partners, particularity in the Unified Communications space.
