He has been appointed as channel director to replace Jeff Sheard, who left the networking giant mid-2008.
Although Cisco wouldn’t confirm Lehmann’s appointment, Wendy O’Kefee, managing director of their distributor partner, Westcon, said the hire was “wonderful news”.
According to O’Keefe his background made him a good candidate for the position.
“Michael has a good background. My perspective is this is good for distributors,” she said.
“[We] have confidence in Michael so it’s really important and a significant appointment.”
O’Kefee said he previously worked for Tech Pacific in a financial role in the 90s and then as a managing director for various countries.
“He has a great personality and great integrity and is a good evangelist,” she claimed.
“[He] is a do’er and is just what distributors need.
Lehmann’s appointment has also been given the thumbs up by a Cisco partner close to CRN.
“That is what’s needed. We are huge with Cisco and the appointment is very important for us,” they said.
