Westan’s Billion deal

Westan’s Billion deal
Up until early July, Westan only had rights to distributes Billion’s BiPAC consumer products and BiGuard enterprise security range across South Australia.

Patrick Micallef director of business communications at Westan said it has taken on the range nationally because of its reliability, support and value for money.

The Melbourne-based company has about 2000 resellers across all states, delivering a substantial boost to Billion’s reach in this country.

“We identified very early on that the Billion product is becoming a widely recognised brand and is extremely popular amongst the technical community. We wanted to tap into this early success and wanted to take this brand mainstream,” he said.

The market will have better access to Billion products through this new distribution channel, said Raaj Menon, managing director at PC Range.

"We hope to attract smaller integrators and resellers, computer stockists, small to medium business administrators and IT professionals. Westan gives us access to a large number of resellers who supply the mainstream market nationally. This will enable Billion to have a real impact on the Australian market," he said.

Billion will still keep its agreement in place with master distributor PC Range. Menon said the Westan deal would substantially increase Billion’s reseller footprint.

“We’d expect that larger presence to convert into strong extra sales,” he said. “Westan’s national reach will make it even easier for people to buy Billion.”

Under the agreement Westan resellers will have access to Billion BiPAC 7300G wireless broadband router and Billion BiPAC 7404 VoIP-enabled wireless broadband router.

Both products support the ADSL2+ Annex M data transfer protocol, which doubles the upstream speed for customers of broadband providers that support the standard, such as Internode.
