Vodafone has announced that it is offering one month of free access fees for any new customer that defects from a rival network.
The promotion came on the same day that Telstra suffered its second network outage in five days, and its third in two months.
"If you’re having trouble with your network, we invite you to come on over to Vodafone,” said Vodafone director of sales Ben McIntosh.
The one month free offer is available to customers that transfer their existing mobile number to a Vodafone post-paid voice or mobile broadband plan before 5pm Tuesday 29 March.
"We’re willing to back our multi-billion investment in our network which is strong, reliable and resilient. Australia’s only network happiness guarantee means that if you join us and you’re not happy in the first 30 days, you can cancel your contract and only pay for what you’ve used," said McIntosh.
The Vodafone executive also had a dig at Telstra's 'free data' days that were arranged as compensation for its recent outages.
“We know ‘free data’ days are all the rage right now, which is why Vodafone offers two months of unlimited data to post-paid voice customers when they join or upgrade,” he said, referring to Vodafone's Data WorkOut plans that provide two months of unlimited data within a 24-month contract.
