Vocus scores big Federal government telco deal
Vocus Chief Executive, Enterprise & Government, Andrew Wildblood, Captain of the Tiwi Bombers Premier League team, Patrick Heenan, and Vocus Group CEO, Kevin Russell. Vocus has renewed its sponsorship of the Bombers for two years.

The federal Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business has awarded Vocus subsidiary Nextgen Networks a contract to provide telecommunications services.

The almost $4 million deal covers wide area network (WAN) and internet connection services. The contract runs from October 2019 to September 2022.

Nextgen was picked from the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) whole-of-government Telecommunications Services Panel, a seven-supplier panel for managed WAN services, transport data link services and internet connection services.

“The department and the DTA selected Nextgen Networks as a result of this approach to the panel on the basis of value for money and their ability to meet the department’s technical requirements,” a department spokesperson told CRN.

The other suppliers in the panel include Macquarie Telecom, Optus, Sliced Tech, Telstra, TPG and Verizon Australia..

The win comes as Vocus has outlined a new channel strategy that will see it target government while working with its channel to win in other vertical markets.
