Victorian government awards Fujitsu Australia $25 million for health technology services

Fujitsu Australia has been awarded a $25 million IT infrastructure contract with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

The managed services contract commenced in May and runs until the end of February 2022, with options to extend further where needed.

"This contract has been established to provide Victorian health services with the information technology infrastructure they need to improve operational effectiveness,” a spokesperson from the department told CRN.

“When a Victorian seeks treatment at one of our health services they are benefiting from the technology related to this contract.”

The department did not reveal further details as the contract is commercial in confidence, but the spokesperson said the contract would allow for more flexibility in the way service was provided.

The spokesperson also said a total of four companies competed for the tender, including Fujitsu.

“The Fujitsu offer represented the best value for money and met all the technical capabilities required in the tender."

Last year, Fujitsu Australia posted $1.16 billion in revenue for the year ending 31 March 2018, up from $1.13 billion last financial year due to contract wins and project rollouts.

The company also landed a spot on the Federal Department of Finance's whole-of-government cloud services panel in April last year, allowing the company sell cloud services to federal government agencies.
