US vendor buys out distie mPath Global

US vendor ExactTarget has bought its Australian distributor mPath Global for an undisclosed sum, transforming the company into a direct office for the vendor.

ExactTarget makes hosted email marketing and interactive marketing systems.

mPath had been sole distributor of ExactTarget in Asia Pacific for about five years.

Its 10 staff all agreed to move across to the new ExactTarget Australia company, including chief executive and founder Chris Gartlan.

Gartlan told CRN the company would seek to "triple its resource base" in just six weeks.

He declined to reveal how much ExactTarget had paid for mPath, citing that both firms were privately held.

Gartlan said the buyout would mean "more resources in the market, more support and stronger linkages [with corporate headquarters]".

It would also benefit mPath's partner network, which numbered about 50 firms that included digital agencies, ISVs, OEMs and "integrated" partners.

There were about 150 customers in Australia including Fairfax Digital, Lend Lease, ING Australia, Nine Network, Tennis Australia, Flight Centre Limited Corporate Division, and CSIRO.

Gartlan founded mPath in 2005 after marketing roles with HP and General Electric.

mPath had offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
