Niche security distributor Unixpac has inked a distribution agreement with US-based intrusion prevention technology vendor, Sourcefire.
Sourcefire’s unified defence system combines intrusion and vulnerability management technologies.
Tom Piotrowski, managing director of Unixpac said the vendor’s open source IDS engine, Snort, is a signature-based intrusion detection system.
Snort’s commercial sibling, Sourcefire 3D takes passive vulnerability assessment and service-anomaly detection to Snort.
“Australian IT security professionals have widely adopted Snort technology and seem to be well aware of 3Ds that stand for Discover, Determine, and Defend,” he said.
