Technology infrastructure solutions provider Thomas Duryea has been awarded a gong as EMC’s Australia and New Zealand Partner of the Year for Unified Storage.
Chief executive Andrew Thomas told CRN the win is a recognition of a combination of performance, sales and investment around skillsets and certifications.
“[We are] bringing on a lot more engineers around EMC and in particular the VNX range of storage,” Thomas said.
Thomas Duryea has been an EMC partner for the last seven years, and has around twenty staff assigned to the EMC side of the business.
Thomas said the business is in a growth phase: “We have developed a set of service offerings [that are] newly relevant to the market and our goal is to grow the business and reach more customers".
One of the key areas identified was mobility.
“It’s all about users, and the way those users work,” Thomas noted. “They want the information and applications to work everywhere, on every device.”
He said the BYOD revolution was just beginning. While companies are still restricting the devices used by staff, the reality is that most recognise users want to use the device of their choice.
“It’s also a generational change thing,” he said, referring to the influx of BYOD-demanding Gen-Y into the workforce.
“For most companies,” he added, “they realise they can no longer dictate devices to users. They want access and freedom, and that’s where tools such as mobile device management and Citrix come into it.”
