Telstra has won a contract to provide SMS services to the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business.
The $5 million contract is for “employment SMS services”, which specifically target Australian job seekers “receiving government-funded employment services”.
A department spokesperson didn't go into specifics, but the department runs Jobactive, a government program that aims to help Australians secure employment.
The deal runs from 28 June 2019 to 30 June 2021, with Telstra chosen from the Digital Transformation Agency’s 20-member whole-of-government Mobile Panel.
“The procurement was conducted in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and the process is subject to commercial in confidence considerations,” the spokesperson told CRN.
The department was more recently known as the Department of Jobs and Small Business, and adopted the current name on 29 May 2019 as part of amendments on the government’s Administrative Arrangements Order.
