Telstra gives broadband customers unlimited data

Telstra has unlocked data limits for home broadband customers on $99 plans and above, while automatically doubling data limits for customers on cheaper plans.

The carrier said that traffic on its fixed network has surged 40 percent in the past year as more Australian households connect to the NBN and stream entertainment.

Vicki Brady, Telstra group executive, consumer and small business, said: "Streaming entertainment content has become a way of life for Australians, with around two-thirds of us now streaming our favourite shows. We’re also using more connected devices in the home than ever before with the rise of smart home technologies.

“Not having a data limit will provide peace of mind as Australians’ data habits continue to grow. That’s why we have launched unlimited bundles for new and existing customers on our $99 and above plans."

Telstra’s new data offering rolls out to customers from today, with customers on $99 and above home broadband plans automatically receiving unlimited data.

Unlimited data is available to new customers that sign up for the $99 Home Internet Entertainment Bundle, which includes a new Telstra TV streaming device, Foxtel Now Starter pack for three months and a Telstra Gateway Frontier modem.
