Telstra delivers single bill technology

Chief executive, Sol Trujillo made the announcement while speaking at Telstra's annual investor briefing in Sydney yesterday and claimed the upgrade, named 'IT release one', will make it easier for customers to do business with Telstra.

"We have again beaten our own transformation timetable, switching on an improved IT system that makes life better for customers,” said Trujillo.

According to Telstra, the improved IT system was switched on last weekend and will eventually serve 5.3 million consumers and small business customers by giving call centre staff a single view of the customer, reducing repeat activities.

Telstra announced that its five-year plan to transform the company’s services and networks was already ahead of schedule in October last year.

Telstra announced the full list of its technology partners for its systems upgrade; Amdocs, Cramer, Subex Azure, Metasolve, infovist and VPI Systems in July 2006.

A spokesperson for VPI Systems, a provider of network planning software and services, told iTnews.com.au: “We’re very positive about how it is all going and we have received a lot of support from Telstra.”

The second wave of IT improvements is on track for release at the end of 2008.
