Peripherals distributor Anyware Computer Accessories has launched a line of soft toy webcams on to the Australasian market.

Anyware said the plug-in USB1.1 fluffy dog and rabbit web cameras had standard webcam functionality in a Windows-compatible package.

"The camera is built into the soft toy’s nose and has all the abilities of your standard webcam, but in a much cuter package," the company said in a release.

The Soft Toy Web Cams offered 640 x 480mm 300K pixel resolution, 1-2cm lens distances, hot plug-and-play, a 45-60 degree view angle and 24-bit true colour.

Anyware's sleepy-eyed white rabbit has a round black nose lens, a little vest in delicate pastels and a blue 'flower-pot' hat. The fluffy dog is brown plush, with droopy spaniel-type ears and a mournful expression.

The soft dog or rabbit cameras had a recommended retail price of $24-$26.50, Anyware said.

Anyware has previously offered a wide range of quirky USB-compatible peripherals, including miniature plug-and-play christmas trees, cup warmers, little desk fans, Nemo-style imitation fish tanks and massage balls.

In other news, the distributor has just been appointed as official, exclusive Australian and New Zealand distributor for Israel-based 3D gaming and office product vendor Pegasus Technologies.

Pegasus Technologies mainly focused on handwriting capture input products, the distributor said.

"Pegasus Technologies is revolutionising the interaction of natural handwriting with PCs, PDAs and mobile phones and is playing a key role in the development of next-generation computing devices in which natural input methods will become increasingly important," Anyware said in its announcement.

The Pegasus deal follows another exclusive agreement, with Sitecom for its Nitro XM wireless networking gear.

Anyware Computer Accessories has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland.
