TechnologyOne improves performance with NetApp

TechnologyOne has selected NetApp's Private Storage to reduce costs and improve performance for its software-as-a-service solutions.

The Brisbane-based software company is now able to manage, move, protect and share data whenever needed through a data fabric.

“Data has really strong gravity and once it’s stored somewhere, it’s hard to move around,” said Iain Rouse, R&D group director of cloud at TechnologyOne. “With a global cloud and customers around the world, we turned to NetApp to solve this problem as its data fabric approach enables our customers to interact with their data seamlessly.”

According to TechnologyOne, it saw an 85 percent reduction of production data with NetApp deduplication and FlexClone technology, improved the performance tenfold of Amazon Web Services’ fastest storage tier with NPS for AWS, and its customers have the ability to prove sovereignty of data to Australian regulators.

Both companies worked together to develop the TechnologyOne MetroPod, in order to provide customers with a multi-cloud approach. MetroPod includes NPS for cloud, FlexPod, MetroCluster hosted within Equinix’s data centre, Cloud ONTAP and OnCommand Insight to enable TechnologyOne’s multi-cloud approach and efficiencies. Also included is AltaVault, which helps to store the data in an object store.

"We are able to take our current 99.999 percent 'resilience' from AWS to 99.999 percent of 'availability' using the MetroPod architecture," Rouse said.

"We anticipate seeing significant savings over the next few years as well as a significant reduction in our backup and recovery times."
