Solstice Energy, formerly known as Tas Gas Retail, is moving into the Tasmanian electricity market, leveraging its long-standing partnership with ASX 300 Gentrack of Auckland, a provider of next-generation solutions for utilities.
The company, which has been a part of Tasmanian energy provision for over two decades, launched its electricity offering on June 17, 2024.
This expansion aims to create a more competitive energy landscape in Tasmania while embracing electrification and sustainability.
Sarah Thurstans, general manager of retail at Solstice Energy, pointed to the changing energy market as a key driver for the company's diversification.
"By offering both electricity and gas, we're able to meet all of our customers' energy needs," Thurstans said.
Solstice Energy aims to onboard 3,000 new electricity customers within the first three months of operation.
The launch is supported by Solstice Energy's 19-year partnership with Gentrack, which provides the company with a stable billing system and data-driven insights.
This technology has enabled Solstice Energy to transform its business and introduce innovative products that meet customer expectations and market demands.
Alongside its entry into the electricity market, Solstice Energy has undergone a comprehensive brand refresh with a new identity and voice, reflected in over 400 revamped communications and marketing materials.
The company's expansion is part of its broader vision to support Australia's transition to a cleaner energy future, with plans to explore possibilities in hydrogen and biomethane.
