Systems Union acquires MIS AG Australia

The Australian subsidiary of global financial and business management software provider Systems Union has purchased business intelligence (BI) software provider MIS AG Australia.

The acquisition follows the UK-based group's purchase of an 80 percent stake in MIS AG's worldwide operation last December.

Systems Union - which sells the popular SunSystems software platform - said it was a "friendly acquisition" in which MIS AG would maintain its independence and identity.

MIS AG has 18 staff and sells a suite of business intelligence products under the name DecisionWare.

As a result of the sale, MIS Australia founder, Martin Kratky has moved on and his role would be undertaken by Systems Union MD Bill Bryce.

It is unclear how many of the remaining MIS AG staff would remain with the company following the sale, an MIS spokesperson said.

MIS AG would remain a separate legal entity forming part of the Global Business Intelligence Division within Systems Union Australia and would "attain financial flexibility" for its planned expansion, a statement said.
"We now have a comprehensive set of business intelligence and analytics applications that puts us way ahead of our competitors. No other mid-market vendor in the world can offer an equal breadth of functionality.
"This balance of financial management and business intelligence functionality means that, uniquely, we can meet the needs of organisations right across the finance function," said Bryce.

The acquisition would also extend MIS AG's presence into 194 countries across the globe and adding a potential customer base of 20,000 SunSystems clients for complimentary BI and performance management solutions, he said.
