Symantec rebrands MessageLabs to include cloud

Symantec has rebranded its hosted messaging service MessageLabs to Symantec.cloud (pronounced Symantec dot cloud).

The new identity signalled Symantec's "first step towards making cloud security", according to Symantec.cloud's A/NZ regional director Keith Buckley.

Buckely said the evolution of the brand reinforced Symantec’s commitment to the cloud.

A new data centre in Australia was also flagged but Buckley was unable to give further detail.

The Symantec.cloud products have undergone a name change in order to reflect the branding.

Symantec bought MessageLabs in October 2008 for nearly $US$700 million in cash.
