Symantec expands virtual products with nSuite
Global security vendor, Symantec, claims it is delivering an expanded endpoint virtualisation solution to protect and manage endpoints, whether physical, virtual or hybrid.

The solutions will provide a portable computing experience across a broad range of computing environments, said David Dzienciol, enterprise sales and channels director, Symantec Australia and New Zealand.

“Connection broker technology allocates traditional and virtual computing resources like information, user profiles and applications to the endpoint regardless of device. Presentation virtualisation allows users to view and interact with applications running remotely on a server, as if they are running on their local computing device,” he said.

Dzienciol said Symantec’s endpoint virtualisation and application delivery capabilities complement existing endpoint management solutions for configuration and patch management, asset management, endpoint security, Network Access Control, endpoint Data Loss Prevention, and endpoint data protection and system recovery.

“The nSuite technologies will operate in conjunction with Symantec’s Altiris Software Virtualisation Solution Professional, which currently includes streaming and virtualization technology from Altiris and AppStream to provide faster, easier, and more manageable application consumption,” he said.

According to Dzienciol, resellers who deliver services for their customers and focus on developing standard operating environments (SOEs), software as a service and application development, testing and deployment would be interested in Symantec’s endpoint virtualization solutions, will be suited for the product.

“Resellers will be able to generate recurring revenue streams through ongoing consulting and maintenance. In addition, there are opportunities to deliver SaaS offerings which could also generate recurring revenue streams. There are also opportunities to sell additional software and hardware components that make up the total solution,” he said.

Dzienciol told CRN that locally Symantec was seeing an increased interest for these types of security products from the medical, manufacturing, retail, wholesale and education industries – although endpoint virtualisation wasn’t limited to those vertical markets.
