Symantec and Fujitsu join forces

Fujitsu and Symantec have inked a deal to offer secure storage and server systems, combining Symantec's enterprise security platforms with the Fujitsu Eternus storage system and Primergy server lines.

The two companies plan to focus the combined effort on the medium and large-scale enterprise markets.

Among the products in the server bundles are Symantec's NetBackup and BackupExec archiving tools, and its Storage Foundation and Endpoint Protection security offerings.

Fujitsu and Symantec hope to pick up customers by offering a more complete line of server and data centre systems that do not require the purchase of additional components.

"Our customers continue to face flat or decreasing budgets in light of exponential information growth," said Greg Hughes, enterprise products group president at Symantec.

"With this enhanced relationship, Fujitsu and Symantec intend to more tightly integrate our solutions and services to help customers improve hardware utilisation, reduce complexity and improve operational visibility."
