Lane Cove based Pioneer has been awarded the contract to supply and deliver a "drone in a box" to the Western Australia Police.
The contract, WAPOL182223, was awarded by the WA government, is for three years with an option to extend for a further two.
Pioneer said the drones come with advanced artificial intelligence, thermal imaging, and real-time communication abilities.
There is also a docking station with battery swapping continuous operation, and the unmanned aerial vehicle is all-weather and remotely manageable.
The company supplies vertical take off and landing (VTOL) UAVs with up to 1000 kilometres of range, and up to 150 kg of payload.
Pioneer said they provide seamless integration with police, defence, fire service, surf lifesaving, logistics and other applications.
The company started out in 1996, and said it has been contracting for federal, state and local government, as a custom manufacturer of computer equipment before moving onto UAVs and AI solutions.
Pioneer did not disclose the value of the contract.
