Sydney-based Bigcommerce has signed a deal with Alibaba.com to allow users to source products directly through the Chinese company's supplier network.

With this new partnership, Alibaba will combine its buyer and supplier network with Bigcommerce's ecommerce platform, allowing them to tap into its global wholesaler market.

Bigcommerce co-founder and CEO Eddie Machaalani said the partnership will help its users to expand into new revenue opportunities.

“With this Alibaba.com partnership, we are helping our merchants grow their online businesses every step of the way — from sourcing to selling,” he said.

The deal comes after Alibaba made history with the largest IPO ever, with a market cap of US$220 billion. The global wholesale trader competes directly with Amazon.

Bigcommerce is an Australian company that provides small and medium-sized merchants with an ecommerce platform. Its 55,000 users will now have access to 1.5 million products through Alibaba’s global manufacturer network.
