Sydney-headquartered managed service provider Nexon Asia-Pacific has acquired fellow Sydney MSP Cavalry, as Nexon looks to strengthen its hosted desktop, hybrid cloud consulting and managed services offerings.
The acquisition follows a partnership between the two companies spanning more than 12 years, with the combined companies’ expertise and “deep domain knowledge” set to bolster Nexon’s offering and deliver added value to both organisations’ clients, according to Nexon managing director Barry Assaf.
“By extending our capabilities and capacity through such partnerships we are able to offer our customers added benefits and access to additional expertise, particularly when it comes to cloud services,” he said.
“We are committed to fulfilling their evolving needs and how they can best leverage technology to do things better in today's digital economy.”
Cavalry director Peter Low said his company would remain committed to its customers.
“This new partnership with Nexon means our clients will now have access to a broader and deeper set of solutions, skills and expertise that will support their organisation question for innovation and purpose,” he said.
“This is just another chapter in our growth story and we are excited for what the future holds for both our clients and our team.”
The acquisition comes a little more than a year after Nexon closed of the purchase of Sydney managed service provider Blue Central in December 2016.
Both acquisitions appear to be a key part of Nexon’s strategy to scale its business and broaden its skillset to compete in the IT services market.
In 2013, Nexon began branching out by acquiring ERP provider Praxa for an undisclosed amount.
In an October 2015 interview with CRN, Assaf spoke on how Nexon Asia Pacific had invested millions on moving from a telephony specialist to full cloud provider.
The Sydney-headquartered company had sunk about $5 to $6 million into its 'Agile Business Cloud' (ABC) platform over four years, managing director Barry Assaf said at the time.
