The Sunshine Coast Council (Council) in Queensland is seeking to engage a managed cyber security services provider (MSSP) to deliver a 24x7 hybrid Security Operations Centre (SOC) capability.
The scope of services includes Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and log management; Next-Generation Intrusion Detection and Prevention Services (Next-Gen IDPS); Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR); and advanced security analytics.
In addition, it also includes security incident management, analysis and forensics; threat intelligence and threat hunting; vulnerability management; and management support and continuous monitoring for Council’s security products.
Council has transitioned most of its IT infrastructure to cloud-based and hosted services. The primary administrative hub, City Hall in Maroochydore, now functions as a branch site, along with other locations, with no direct hosting of IT services.
The proposed solution will aim to integrate all services within a SOC managed by the MSSP; streamline security operations by consolidating tools and processes into a unified platform or service model; and enhance visibility and response through real-time analytics, automated workflows, and integrated threat intelligence.
It will also aim to support long-term sustainability by reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through automation, centralised management, and modular service delivery, plus enable scalability and flexibility to adapt to evolving threat landscapes, regulatory requirements, and Council’s digital transformation initiatives.
