Sun Microsystems is on a recruitment drive for local resellers to push its AMD Opteron-based Sun Fire servers running Windows.
Sam Srinivasan (pictured), partner sales director of Sun, said the vendor wants to sign more resellers to sell the Sun Fire X4500 and X4600 blade servers running VMWare's range of virtulisation storage software.
“We are looking for VAR’s with integration capabilities. Sun’s looking to take on-board these resellers within the next 12 months.”
Currently, new resellers will come under Sun’s current Advantage Partner Program, which will be re-launched next year, he said.
Sun’s entire product line is distributed by itX Group. ACA Pacific also distributes Sun’s storage line.
In New Zealand, Express Data was appointed as sole Sun distributor in late 2005.
Srinivasan said there are no plans to change its distributor network.
