Southern Cross targets events with venue division

Southern Cross Computer Systems has launched a new business unit focused on public venue and stadium services.

The unit will provide technical capabilities tailored for the events. The integrator claimed the market was "huge" and "untapped".

Further, the Melbourne-based integrator has appointed Brett Liddle as general manager of the division to start up the business unit and take it to market.

Liddle has over 15 years' experience in the IT industry and is a graduate of the Venue Management Association's Public Venue Management School.

Prior to joining Southern Cross, Liddle was information systems manager at the Melbourne Cricket Club.

“We envisage Brett’s experience and leadership will open many doors both in Australia and overseas”, said Ashutosh Kapsé, general manager of Consulting at Southern Cross.

“This is a huge market waiting to be tapped. To give you an idea of the opportunity, Australia and New Zealand alone have well over 100 stadiums with a capacity of 10,000 spectators or more,” he said.
