Sourcefire appoints APAC head as company grows

The move is intended to strengthen Sourcefire's reach in the region, which was previously handled by US based VP Allen Male.

Hindi has more than 15 years experience in sales and marketing in the region - albeit not in security - and will oversee sales, business development and strategic marketing activities across the region.

"I was brought in because the business in Australia has grown to a big chunk and now the idea is to take it to the next level and make it a significant part of the entire business," Hindi told CRN.

According to Hindi, Australia is the best performing country in APAC and business has grown by 100 percent year on year.

Hindi attributes the growth to the increase in security spending and the popularity of the company's Snort technology.

"The popularity of the product [Snort] has made it easier for us to engage with partners," he said. "We have stated that 50 percent of the business needs to come from international business. It's one piece of the strategy," he said.

The plan for 2009 and early 2010 is to expand some of that through the channel and federal government business.

"You'll see more additions. We're going to be focused more on quality and not quantity [partners]. We're looking for expertise in vertical markets, especially in federal government and we're going to be focused on people who can deliver value-add."

Hindi is based in Singapore and will spend half his time in Australia, he said.
