Sophos has reached 600 Australian channel partners as part of a strategy to grow its global resellers base by 15 percent.

"Were looking at around 600 active partners at the moment, but we're adding to that quite rapidly," channel director Karen Delaney said.

"I now have a channel team of seven people whose job it is to be out there talking to channel partners about our complete channel portfolio."

Globally, Sophos has added 1,600 new partners since the start of 2013, bringing the total number of active partners to more than 12,000.

Delaney credits the growth to Sophos' strong partner programs and education initiatives.

In June, the company released Sophos Complete MSP security, its first MSP-focused solution offering protection for networks, endpoints and mobile devices from a single vendor. Sophos said the solution was easier and more profitable for partners.

Sophos launched an ambitious program at the recent APEC show that aims to train "100 engineers in 100 days" in Unified Threat Management (UTM). The program is free of charge to Sophos' partners and already 50 engineers have been accredited.

The company also hosts partner conferences annually with the next one scheduled to take place in March-April of next year.
