SMS Management & Technology and Sustainability Victoria's business management platform – dubbed SV Enabled – won the project and management category at the 2016 Australian government ICT awards held at CeBIT Australia.
The SV Enabled CRM, which was launched in July 2015 and took seven months to develop, now manages more than 30,000 requests a year. The platform has reduced the time taken to assess and manage contracts and procurement by Sustainability Victoria from 12 hours to 30 minutes.
The product was developed on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform and users have access to Microsoft Outlook and Skype. Users also have full access to the platform via their smartphones.
The Australian Government ICT Awards recognises and promotes excellence, innovation and professionalism across local, State and Federal government agencies. The project and program management category recognises initiatives that increase the visibility of ICT and improve operational effectiveness, according to SMSMT.
Sustainability Victoria information systems business manager Chris Moon was also awarded as the ICT young professional of the year.
"This project with SMS was undertaken in a very different way to how government agencies usually work. It was much more collaborative and there was a much deeper engagement on both sides," said Moon.
"This was one of the key strengths we found with SMS. It was our first agile project, but it produced much better results than we could have hoped for using more traditional procurement. The award is fantastic news and really reflects the strength of our partnership with SMS."
SMSMT director for Microsoft Solutions Shane Parsons said: "This award is a testament to the SMS team who worked seamlessly with Sustainability Victoria to deliver a solution. SV Enabled showcases the innovative solutions being delivered by SMS on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform."
