Enterprise outsourcing specialist Hostworks has secured a three-year contract with Australian News Channel, the owner and operator of 24-hour news service Sky News.
Under the agreement Hostworks, as well as equipping Sky News online abilities, will provide the infrastructure to allow the news service to meet unpredictable levels of demand when external events drive unprecedented traffic to its online service.
Angelos Frangopoulos CEO at the Australian News Channel said the decision to work with Hostworks was an important step in terms of diversifying distribution of the company’s content online.
“Our contract with Hostworks places us in a position where we can change course and modify our offerings at short notice. Online news is a fast-growing market segment that is undergoing massive change,” he said.
Sky News is a 24 hour television news service and is available to around 2.5 million homes and locations across Australia and New Zealand on the Foxtel, Austar, Optus and Neighbourhood Cable pay television networks and on the Sky Television Network in New Zealand.
The service is also available across other digital media platforms, including 3G mobile, podcasts, SMS and online.
