Simms inks distribution deal with MoneyWorks

The partnership means SGA and Simms will take the sales, marketing and distribution of the MoneyWorks family of accounting software products to small and medium businesses on both Windows and Apple platforms.

Developed by Auckland-based Cognito Software in 1992, MoneyWorks is a multi-user accounting solution.

It lets users track business metrics that enables business owners drive profitability for both home office-based businesses to larger enterprises with more than 20 concurrent users.

Grant Cowie managing director of Cognito Software said the partnership represents a major alternative to the ageing MYOB product line, the main accounting package for Australians.

"It's a great market opportunity for resellers to offer alternatives to MYOB with some strong and compelling features," he said.

"Simms was chosen as the sole distributor because it represents the best products in this market segment and enabled us to focus on a single distribution channel.

"This means the channel will know where to go for support and who is responsible for that. Once you enter into a multiple-distributor agreement the lines become blurred and difficult to manage.

"Simms is very proactive, a fast growing organisation, impressive to deal with and an ethical company, all these things are important to us."

Simms will carry MoneyWorks accounting software solution for both Windows and Mac based businesses, providing sales, marketing, technical support and logistics expertise.

Dennis Shepard managing director of SGA said Simms will represent three types of channel MoneyWorks is looking to get access to; corporate resellers, Apple premium and certified retail and mass merchant retail.

"Simms is a speciality distributor. It has a reputation for strong partnerships with their vendors providing additional support and resources," he said.

MoneyWorks also wants to expand its centralised and locally-based sales, marketing and distribution network.

"Just as MoneyWorks is revolutionising accounting software for businesses, this initiative will revolutionise channel support for it and significantly enhance our ability to reach resellers and end users," said Shepard.

Danny Moore international MD for Simms welcomed SGA Software as a partner and looked forward to growing its businesses and those of its channel partners.

Simms supplies IT products and services to the retail, reseller, system-integrator, distribution and OEM markets.
