Melbourne-based network services provider Service Stream has landed a deal with Optus to help complete its 5G network rollout.
The wireless design and construction agreement will initially involve site acquisition, design and construction services on a national level, with other work dependant on future negotiations.
In an ASX announcement (pdf), Service Stream managing director Leigh Mackender said, “We are delighted to have been awarded this agreement by Optus.”
“It is strategically significant for Service Stream in that we now have arrangements in place to provide acquisition, design and construction services on all three wireless carrier networks in Australia.”
The deal is a panel arrangement with Optus in the form of a Statement of Works for Mobile Deployment.
Mackender said Service Stream’s estimated revenue from the deal would be at $40 million over the initial two years of the deal, although concedes the panel arrangement does not provide guaranteed volume, “as is common in the wireless space”.
“We expect to commence works early in Q3 of FY20,” Mackender added.
Last week, Optus added two 5G-enabled mobile phones to its offerings — the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and the Oppo Reno 5G — as it ramps up its 5G rollout.
