Queensland small and family businesses in Ipswich can now register for a government-funded AI micro-credential course aimed at helping owners and employees use artificial intelligence confidently in day-to-day operations.

The program is delivered in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast and covers four courses: Leveraging AI, Business Planning, Continuity and Resilience, and Workforce Development. Sessions are available both face-to-face in Ipswich and online.

Registration for the Ipswich round follows what the government said was strong demand from the first round of in-person courses, which are due to kick off in Cairns later this month.

Ipswich is home to more than 13,500 small businesses, according to Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin.

"These courses are designed to give small business owners and employees skills they can apply immediately in their day-to-day operations, helping small businesses to strengthen productivity, improve decision-making and prepare for future growth," Minnikin said.

"The strong demand for this program shows Queensland small businesses are eager to embrace practical tools like artificial intelligence."

The courses are part of the Crisafulli Government's Small and Family Business First Action Statement. Additional courses, including further face-to-face options in regional locations, are planned for 2027.

In July, the Queensland government expanded its $11.5 million micro-credentials program, with six new courses to be introduced by 2029, including courses on AI, procurement and cyber security.
