Police in Sydney have charged a man in relation to the theft and sale of 23,000 toner cartridges for an estimated $2.4 million on the black market.
Police will allege the 35-year old man purloined the print toner between 2005 and September this year while working for a printing and photocopying company in the Western Sydney suburb of Homebush Bay.
A Police search of the man’s home in the Sydney suburb of Erskineville allegedly revealed 313 stolen toner cartridges.
So far investigators from Flemington Local Area Command have laid charges against the man for thefts which occurred this year totalling 5000 items.
The man was charged yesterday afternoon at Auburn Police Station, with larceny as a clerk/servant.
He was granted bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court on October 6.
The duty offier at Auburn Police station declined to provide any further details on the matter.
