Pioneer Computers showcases new hardware

Australian white-box builder, Pioneer Computers plans to release a netbook and notebook through its channel partners.

Jeff Li, managing director at Pioneer told CRN the manufacturer has designed an 11-inch net book, priced at $599.

Li said the netbook (pictured) was slim and looked similar to an Apple MacBook Air.

"We've been talking to mass merchant retailers about the product and once a deal is ready we will be able to talk more about it," he said.

"Resellers should expect to make about 10-20 percent margin on the netbook and not $10-$20 like other brands."

Li said the hardware will come with a one-three year warranty option and a one year return to base for servicing.

Consumers will also be given the option to extend servicing for the netbook from one to three years.

Pioneer also plans to bring out a ruggedised 13-inch notebook, aimed at consumers.

The ruggedised notebook is expected to be priced under $1000 and will include Intel's Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage platform.

Li said the main features of the hardware were; pressure resistance; water resistance; drop and shock resistance.

"Ruggerdised hardware is aimed at vertical markets," said Li.

"We wanted to bring the same features into a notebook for customers."

Li said the manufacturer wanted to pursue mass merchant deals for the product because it was aimed at consumers.
