Perth IT company aims for $40m

Managed services provider DBSIT has taken the first step in its expansion plan by opening offices in Sydney.

Business manager Denver Wanigasekera said the move would better service a specific client, although he would not reveal the identity.

"Having a local presence allows us to better understand our client and spend more time with them. It's a very profitable deal for us and we do our best to service them."

DBSIT projects turnover to reach $30 to $40 million within the next five years and intends on expanding its presence throughout Australia as growth opportunities in Perth slow down.

State government ICT contracts are drawing the company to the Queensland market, with expansions in Victoria and South Australia set to follow.

"We'll expand into Queensland within the next 12 or 24 months. Expansion is important for us."

Wanigasekera said acquisitions would play an important role in the company's expansion.

"Acquisitions are one of our strategic plans. We want to acquire a few small businesses in the next three or four years that we could integrate really well.

"We don't want to cover everything. We just want to do what we know really well," he added.

DBSIT was founded in 2007 and has focused mainly on servicing companies working in the local mining industry in Perth.

"Probably around 60 percent of our revenues for 2011-12 came from mining, oil and gas," Wanigasekera told CRN.

"In the past two to three years, we've had most of our growth. Prior to 2011 we were sitting at about 10 staff and now we're at 26 staff."
