NEW YORK (Reuters) - Palm, which makes the Treo smart phone, and Research In Motion, the maker of the wireless BlackBerry messaging device, on Monday announced a licensing agreement.
Under the pact, Research In Motion of Waterloo, Ontario, will allow Palm's Treo 650 Smartphone to use its email and communications technology, called BlackBerry Connect. Palm, of Sunnyvale, California, expects to make the service available in the United States and internationally early next year.
The deal will also extend to future Palm OS-based Treo phones with wireless email.
