Pacnet and Telstra sign $35m+ contract
Deborah Homewood, CEO, Pacnet A/NZ said the business deal, valued in excess of $35+ million per annum, will enable Pacnet to offer a comprehensive suite of telco solutions from Telstra.

“This will be across both voice and data services, including; PSTN; ISDN; ADSL1; ADSL2+; Transmission; Business Grade Metro Ethernet; and Carrier Grade Ethernet.”

“On an international level, this allows services such as International Private Lines (IPL) and Internet transit,” she said.

According to Homewood, the deal with Telstra complements Pacnet’s existing Australian network and the company’s EAC-C2C subsea cable infrastructure across APAC.

Pacnet is currently one of Telstra’s ADSL2+ wholesale partners and delivers high speed broadband access services of up to 20 Mbps across standard phone lines to business and residential households across Australia.

Off the back of the deal, Pacnet has also announced that it will launch ADSL2+ high speed broadband services via Telstra’s national ADSL2+ network.

Pacnet’s latest service utilises Telstra’s ADSL2+ DSLAM infrastructure, the largest deployment of ADSL2+ installed in over 1,400 exchanges.

Homewood claims ADSL2+ technology builds on proven ADSL technology to enable download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, more than twice the 8 Mbps maximum download speed previously offered by Pacnet.

The new ADSL2+ plans will be packaged with a range of features with prices starting from $74.95 per month, she said.

“Additionally, we are also offering the latest ADSL2+ service as part of our suite of managed services for businesses,” said Homewood.
