Over 650,000 Aussies bungled eCensus form

Last night, the nation filled out the 2011 Australian Population Census - some more effectively than others.

It has been revealed that some 670,000 Aussies failed to submit their completed online forms, despite logging in and completing all the questions.

"We have got over 670,000 households that have logged on but haven't hit that submit button. I encourage people to log back on and hit that submit button," Paul Lowe, head of the Population Census Program told reporters in Canberra.

The Census of Population and Housing, issued every five years, attempts to accurately count the number of people in Australia, their personal, financial and cultural characteristics as well as where and how they live.

The Population Census Program will release its first batch of data in June next year. But one statistic is already clear: around 670,000 Australians could really do with a computer literacy class.
