Orro launches new Critical Infrastructure division for operational technology

Security network and digital infrastructure provider Orro has launched new division; called Orro Critical Infrastructure, it is aimed at boosting operational technology (OT) capabilities across Australia and New Zealand.

The new division will offer specialised services in planning, building, and managing highly available and secure industrial OT environments.

These services will encompass network infrastructure, cybersecurity, distributed cloud systems, and private LTE wireless networks.

In a first for the region, OCI plans to assess and stabilise existing critical infrastructure assets before collaborating with industry regulators and clients.

The goal is to recommend and implement key transformations that ensure operational excellence and enhanced safety outcomes.

"This new service comes as we continue to expand our full-stack production ready offering, driving our vision of delivering Securely Connected Everything for our customers," Daniel Greengarten, chief executive of Orro, said.

"We're looking forward to collaborating with Australia's operational technology community, and to assisting our customers to plan, build, run, and secure their critical infrastructure," Greengarten added.

Industrial technology is undergoing rapid transformation, with rising cyber threats exploiting vulnerabilities in internal processes and posing risks to critical infrastructure assets.

This shift is driven by industry and government compliance requirements, as well as the need to enhance business value through integration of OT and IT data.

To address these challenges, Orro will launch a new Security Operation Centre (SOC) specifically for OT customers and environments.

The OT based SOC aims to provide real-time protection against potential attacks and ensure cybersecurity capabilities meet customer demands across their entire business operations.

""Orro Critical Infrastructure is focused on navigating the nuances of OT production environments, in which the IT elements of OT can be effectively managed using pragmatic best practices from both disciplines, whilst prioritising production, safety, and security outcomes," Christopher Mahar, who is the managing director of Orro Critical Infrastructure, said.

The company's experience working closely with customers managing extensive OT environments highlighted the need for increased critical infrastructure capabilities.

Existing Orro customers across various sectors, including energy, transport and logistics, healthcare, retail, and state government entities, are expected to benefit from these expanded capabilities.

Last month, Orro launched a managed observability service for network visibility, built with the provider's One Touch Control digital delivery platform, and Cisco's ThousandEyes offering.
