Optus wins multimillion-dollar QBE deal

Optus Business has renewed its ICT services deal with Australian insurance company QBE with a new three-year contract.

As part of the contract, Optus will provide voice, mobile and data network services that will connect more than 4,000 QBE employees in 42 locations across the country.

"We’re delighted with the new three-year partnership between QBE Australia and Optus, and look forward to supporting QBE with a range of ICT services to support their business growth, speed to market and superior customer service," said John Paitaridis, Optus Business' managing director.

The "competitive" re-sign will take the total relationship between Optus and QBE to over ten years. The value of the deal was not disclosed, with Optus referring to it as a "multi-million dollar" contract.

QBE Australia chief information officer Tony Forward said: "QBE is committed to a continued focus on innovation in the insurance services market in Australia. The strategic partnership with Optus will support QBE’s strategy to offer more personalised and compelling customer experiences."

In May, Optus joined forces with Sydney's Macquarie University to build a $10 million Cyber Security Hub to support both public and private sectors.

Optus is a CRN MVP, recognised for its high levels of vendor partnerships. Its gold-level partnership with Cisco was reflected in March when the company was honoured with the cloud solution excellence, services and community contribution partner of the year awards.

"Optus has a strong track record of providing great value and high quality ICT and mobile services to enterprise and government organisations in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region. The new three year contract with QBE is testament to the depth of our experience and capability. Our goal is to work closely with our enterprise customers to create shared value and market advantage," said Paitaridis.
