Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, “We are pleased that customers in Wollongong and the Illawarra region will enjoy the benefits of Optus’ unique 3G offerings."
According to Optus its 3G/HSPA network provides customers with download speeds averaging 500Kbps to 1.5Mbps and network capability of up to 3.6Mbps initially with the potential to rise up to 14.4Mbps – depending on a range of factors.
“Our current mobile network covers around 97 percent of the NSW population, stretching across 217,000 square kilometres. There are a number of mobile sites servicing the Wollongong and Illawarra area for 3G/HSPA with additional coverage for some adjoining regions including Kiama and Nowra to be completed by April 2008,” Hardy said.
