Optus Business wins $12 million service contract with industrial giant CSR

Optus Business has announced that it has reached an agreement with major industrial company CSR Limited to provide voice, data and mobile services.

The $12 million, 3.5 year arrangement covers 150 Australian sites and is part of CSR's  technology overhaul aimed at  improving user and end customer experience.

“Technology is changing the way we work and how businesses operate and it’s all underpinned by the need for a resilient, high capacity, scalable enterprise-grade network,” Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said.

“CSR, like many Australian enterprises, is preparing for the rapidly growing volume of data needed to leverage the latest technology developments that are transforming how customers and employees are interacting and engaging with organisations.”

Optus' work for CSR saw the carrier combine voice, video and data applications on a single network, while also deploying a mobility solution for the company’s workforce to allow for more staff to work remotely.

Optus said the network is the ideal environment for bandwidth-intensive, latency-sensitive converged business applications, while the new mobility capability also provides cost assurance for the business.

“CSR is continuing to reinvest in its technology to deliver the best experience for our people and customers,” CSR general manager for enterprise IT Craig Buttriss said.

“We recognise the importance of data for our business and needed a network which is scalable and cost competitive to meet our future business requirements.”

Butriss added that Optus Business’ services will provide CSR with the strong foundations for its IT strategy, supporting not only the business requirements of today but of the future.

Optus Business took a hit in its latest quarterly revenue due to lower ICT deals and a continuing decline in its voice segment.
